The Max Bait Tray System...
The Max Bait Trays are made in the USA from high quality .080 powder coated aluminum for a lifetime of use. Our standard trays are 2.3-inches deep and make it easy for any angler to properly store and keep fresh a variety of rigged baits, including whole ballyhoo or even rigged strip baits. Our deeper 3.9-inch deep trays will accommodate frozen boxes of sardines, squid, swimming mullet, spanish mackerel and chum.
Trays sizes range from 12.5 in. x 7.5 in. up to 27.5 in. x 11 in. to fit most popular brands of well insulated coolers. Using a design where interlocking trays conduct cold from one tray to the next, bait stays cold and dry all day in the sun. This system uses less deck space and ice than conventional bait tray systems and has been tested since 2004. (See the size chart below)
Less ice — more room for bait...
The interlocking Max Bait Trays are designed to conduct cold up the stack to the trays above. The ice in the bottom of the cooler comes in contact with the bottom tray and the cold is conducted to the tray above. As the tray comes in contact with the bottom of the tray above it, the cold from the ice is conducted throughout the stack. Bait stays cold and dry all day as the cooler sits in the sun, using less ice and offering more room for bait.

Stackable, interlocking, interchangeable...
The trays are designed to easily stack, interlocking with the tray above and below it. The different depth trays are interchangeable and can be matched and arranged to suit your bait storage needs. The Max Bait Tray System also comes with an optional prep station/cutting board that fits securely in the top tray and will add insulation to the top tray.
Aluminum vs. stainless steel...
There are many times where stainless steel is a better choice than aluminum but your bait tray isn't one of them. Bait trays should be durable, hold up well in the saltwater environment, easy to clean and light weight. That's why the Max Bait Tray Systems is made in the USA using .080 aluminum with a white powder coat finish to reflect the sun's heat.
- holds up well in a salt water environment
- powder coated for easy clean-up
- light weight and durable for a lifetime of use
For maximum bait tray performance then the choice is clear…Make Max Bait Tray System your bait’s buddy.
The story of Max Bait Trays...
It has been said that “necessity is the mother of invention”. The idea for the Max Bait Tray system came about on a fishing trip in 2004. I found that I was running out of room on the back of a 23’ Pursuit.
My boat was equipped with a beverage cooler, a large fish cooler and a 46/48 qt. cooler that stored the bait. I knew that when I caught “The Big One” that I would need a large cooler for the fish. I knew I needed a more compact and efficient bait cooling system to give me more room to fight the fish.
The Max Bait Tray is easy to load, easy to store, and easy to use. I use it every time I go offshore. Even though it sits in the sun all day, I always have ice left at the end of the day... even during the hot days of August!

Suggested Use...
For coolers 50 quart or less, use three trays. (example: 48 quart cooler can handle 1 deep tray and 1 standard tray or 3 standard trays)
For coolers 51 quart and larger, use 4 trays. (example: 54 quart cooler can handle 4 standard trays or 2 deep trays or 2 standard and 1 deep trays)
Our deep tray is the same height as two standard trays.
As you use your cooler you will learn the amount of ice that will last through out the day. You just don't want to have to add ice while out on a busy fishing day. Some of the better insulated coolers may can do more but this is a "rule of thumb".
